Big news in the compact-car world. Toyota's wildly popular Corolla nameplate is officially adding a 5-door hatchback variant in North America.

We saw it for the first time, debuting at the New York International Auto Show, but it's hard to get this sporty and stylish new option off our minds.

  • The Corolla Hatchback is lower, wider, and longer than the Corolla iM, with wider tracks and a longer wheelbase
  • The 2.0-liter engine in the Corolla Hatchback is actually lighter and smaller than the 1.8-liter engine in the Corolla iM
  • The Corolla Hatchback is 60% more rigid than the Corolla iM for a much better ride quality
