How to Reset the Maintenance Required Light In Your Toyota Vehicle

A smiling salesman in a red shirt shakes hands with a young girl holding a red balloon, next to her mother. A red Toyota car is parked behind them.
Whether you haven’t gotten your vehicle maintained yet, or you have and the shop just forgot to reset the light, you may sometimes see your “maintenance required” light illuminate after a certain number of miles. This is just a reminder and can easily be reset. Just follow these simple steps, and you’ll be able to reset your maintenance reminder in a matter of minutes.
    1. First, turn your key into the “on” position.
    2. One your key is in the on position, see if your odometer reading is displaying. If it is, then turn the key back off.
    3. After that, you’ll want to push and hold the rest button for your trip meters. This is the same button that you use to switch between the odometer and the two trip meters.
    4. While you are holding this button, turn your key back to the on position, but don’t start the engine. You should see your odometer display present a series of dashes that slowly disappear. Once they are gone, zeroes will take their place. Keep pushing the reset button until all of the zeroes are gone and the odometer reading returns.
Once you have done this, your maintenance light should be turned off, and it won’t come back on again until you have hit the next maintenance interval.
